Vanessa's Baby

When Virginia recommends Dr. Green, Vanessa realizes that a number of other friends have also recommended him, so she decides to give him a try. Virginia asks Michael if they're sure that Vanessa's three months pregnant, reminding Michael that Vanessa stayed with Tyus while they were apart. Virginia has a crisis of conscience when she realizes that she'll go to prison if anyone finds out what she did to Vanessa, but it is too late, because Vanessa decides to go with Dr. Green. When Michael runs late, Dr. Green tells Vanessa that she's four and a half months pregnant, making her remember the day that she woke up half-undressed in Tyus' apartment.

 Maria

Pete gives Maria the file he put together on her life before she married Ben. Maria is overwhelmed by the amount of material that Pete compiled on her. Maria begins reading Pete's portfolio, and the pages get blown out of her hands.

December 2, 1998

  Maria

While picking up the pages of the dossier, Maria passes out. Carmen finds her and helps her to her feet. Maria grabs up the papers so that Carmen won't see them, and then Carmen takes her home. Maria finds a copy of the videotape of her wedding to Ben. She lefts the tape, and, telling Carmen that she needs to rest, she leaves. Maria watches the beginning of the videotape she took from Carmen's house -- Ben showing her the house for the first time.

Vanessa's Baby

After Michael takes Vanessa home, Dr. Green admits to Virginia that Vanessa's only two and a half months pregnant, not four and a half, like he told her. Virginia tells Tyus that Vanessa thought that she's three months pregnant, but that she could be a lot more pregnant than that. Vanessa does the math and realized that based on the date that Dr. Green gave her, Tyus could be the father of her baby.

 Rosario Jewels

When Amy asks him about his investigation into Bernie's disappearance, Ricardo asks her how well he knew Hillary. She replies that Hillary and Bernie were friends, and tells him about Hillary's brief Halloween night visit to Bernie's house. Emily tells Ricardo that she overheard Bette saying that the police found some of Hillary's things by the pier. AJ tells Cole that it's very important that he know whether Cole stole the necklace, and that he'd tell his son everything if Cole will tell him what he's done with the jewels. Cole tells AJ about helping Francesca retrieve the jewels to return them to Rosario. AJ says that anyone who comes in contact with the jewels is in danger.

Baby Switch Blackmail

When Annie asks him about working together to break up Caitlin and Cole, Gregory says that he is satisfied with things the way they are at the moment. Caitlin gets another phone call. This time, the caller demands money and Annie resolves to turn the tables on him, so she gets out some call tracing equipment that Eddie left to her in his will. Just as the caller is about to make his demands this time, Ricardo arrives and Annie hangs up before they can finish tracing the call.

December 3, 1998

Ricardo/Gabi/Antonio

Gabi tells Antonio that she still feels guilty that she had plotted to break Ricardo and Paula up when she first came to Sunset Beach. Antonio reminds her there is always the chance to redeem oneself and start over, and she is living proof of that, which makes her feel better. Later Ricardo is thrilled by his surprise party. Madame Carmen tries to appear happy for Ricardo and Gabi, but she is plagued by her premonition that there is another man in Gabi's life.

 Rosario Jewels

Ricardo tells Amy that Bernie was broke and his house was being repossessed. Emily invites Amy to stay at her mom's for Christmas, but breaks the news to Amy that she and Sean plan to go to Aspen. AJ explains the legend of the powers of the jewels to Cole: immortality to those who own it, destruction to one's enemies through chanting, and a horrible demise for anyone who has lost the jewels. He goes on to say that if they want to protect themselves, they have to restore all of the jewels to the Rosario Madonna.

Baby Switch Blackmail

Ricardo asks if they have received any unusual phone calls, since sometimes a thief will try to sell back expensive jewelry to the original owner, but Caitlin and Annie claim they haven't, Later, Annie worries that they are "dead meat" if the secret came out. She has a fantasy that she and Caitlin hung on meat hooks while Cole and Gregory prepared to butcher them. The blackmailer calls back and alluded to the fact that Annie has plenty of secrets! He asks for one million dollars. They trace the call to the lobby pay phone at the Sunset Beach Country Club. Back at Gregory's house, Cole overhears Annie and Caitlin fretting about getting the money pronto.

December 4, 1998

  Maria

Meg and Ben walk in on Maria while she is watching the tape of Ben giving her the tour of the house. Ben and Meg unwittingly make it impossible for Maria to remove the tape from the VCR, so Maria goes up to bed. When she returns downstairs later, she catches Meg about to watch the videotape.

Ricardo/Gabi/Antonio

Antonio tries to convince his mother that the other man she saw in the cards doesn't exist, but she says that she's as certain that there'll be pain ahead for Ricardo as she was that Maria was still alive. Ricardo talks Antonio into dancing with Gabi. Antonio fantasizes that their dance is more romantic than it is. Carmen tells Ricardo that Gabi will break his heart. Ricardo asks Gabi to spend the night with him.

 Rosario Jewels

Amy is attacked by a mummy. When Sean rescues her, it turns out that the mummy that was following her is a homeless person. When Sean brings Amy back in after her encounter with the homeless person, Emily and Sean offer to take her out to get her mind off of things. Amy is surprised that Emily would do something like that for her. AJ breaks into Francesca's hotel room to look for the jewels. When Francesca catches him and holds him at gunpoint, he says that if she doesn't give him the jewels, she'll regret it. After Cole arrives, he explains to AJ and Francesca that they're all on the same side. Francesca tells the others that the Madonna is missing, and that Antonio may know where it is. While driving somewhere, Amy wallows in self-pity because Emily has Sean, and she doesn't have anyone. While Amy is chanting in her head, Emily goes blind. Cole, AJ and Francesca tell Antonio that they have the jewels, and want to put them back. Antonio asks to see the jewels, and when Francesca pours them out for him, she starts to bleed uncontrollably.

Baby Switch Blackmail

While Annie is in the process of thinking about what she could sell to get the money, Gregory overhears her. She tells him that she is making a list of their valuables for their insurance. Another phone call comes in. Gregory grabs the phone from Annie's hand, but there is nothing but silence on the line. We see that this phone call is coming from a tape recorder sitting on someone's desk hooked up to a phone. After hanging up, Gregory sees that they've put a tracer on the phone. Caitlin tells him that they're going to trace the call and then call the parents of the kids who are making the prank calls and put an end to it. Annie sells a Faberge egg to get a start on the money they owe the blackmailer for far less than it's worth. When Caitlin scolds her for settling for less, Annie says that she didn't have the luxury of waiting for the highest bidder and that they could use that money to buy some time. Annie tells Gregory that she has been making friends with Caitlin to show Gregory how much she loves him. While they are kissing, Gregory notices that the egg was missing. Annie tells him that Trey broke it.

December 7, 1998

  Maria/Ben/Meg/Casey/Sara

Casey walks in on Tim taunting Sara that if Maria tries to get Ben back, then Casey will go after Meg. When Tim begs Joan to tell him how he can make amends, she tells him to stop making trouble for Meg.

 Rosario Jewels

The car crashes. When the kids regain consciousness, Emily still can't see. Amy remembers that she wished that Emily would "stop seeing" Sean, right before she went blind. She decides that she did this to Emily. Cole tries to stem the flow of blood, but it doesn't work. Francesca says that she hadn't taken the diamonds from her bracelet yet, and when they remove the bracelet, the bleeding stops. Francesca and Cole admit that they lost one of the emeralds, and AJ says that no one will be safe until they find that last emerald. When they decide to go to the beach to look for the last emerald, the doors lock themselves and they couldn't get out. Smoke starts pouring from the jewels. Francesca loses consciousness.

  Maria

Ben overhears Meg and Maria discussing the fight Maria had with Sara. Ben gets angry when he hears that Sara accused Maria of faking her amnesia. Maria notices that neither Ben nor Meg is close to the VCR, so she pops the tape out, saying that she has to return it that night. After Maria leaves, Meg says that no matter how many times he says that they'll get through this and be together forever, it won't make the situation any easier. Meg comes out of the bathroom to find Ben filling their bedroom with candles. He repeats his wedding vows to her, telling her that he still means them as much as he did the first time he said them. They make love. Maria begins studying the material that Pete gave her. Ben walks in on her practicing regaining her memory.

December 8, 1998

 Rosario Jewels

While Tyus is in the process of telling Emily that she'll have to see a specialist, Bette comes in, relieved that Emily is all right. It takes Bette a minute to realize that Emily has gone blind. Bette tries to convince Emily that her blindness is traumatic blindness caused by the accident, but Emily tells her that her blindness was the cause of the accident. Antonio starts praying. When AJ and Cole join in, the smoke clears, the doors open, and Francesca regain consciousness. They beg Antonio to help them return the jewels to the Madonna, and Antonio, offers to call someone about where to find the statue. Antonio puts the jewels in the safe and gives AJ the combination so that if they need the jewels and Antonio's unavailable they can get them. Antonio overhears Francesca praying for Cole's safety.

  Maria

When Ben asks her what she is doing, Maria says that she was talking to herself, reminding herself of things that she knows, so that she won't forget them. Ben is skeptical, because she never talked to herself. In fact, she used to make fun of Annie for talking to herself. Maria loses her temper, saying that she isn't the same person anymore. Maria tells Ben and Meg that she remembers winning a prize for one of her paintings. Ben wonders if Maria heard someone talking about the painting at Ricardo's birthday party, but she assures him that she really remembers this. Ben tells Meg that something doesn't seem right about Maria's "memory."

December 9, 1998

Baby Switch Blackmail

Gregory asks Annie to sign an insurance claim form for the Faberge egg that she told him was broken the previous night, reminding her that falsifying an insurance claim form is a felony. She never gets around to signing it. Olivia tells Gregory and Annie that she's heard about a professional prank caller who makes vague threats, but never says exactly what he's calling about. Caitlin tells the blackmailer that she needs more time to get the money. They keep the caller on the line long enough to trace it, but the tracer says that they haven't gotten any phone calls. He says that he is calling from a "blind number." Annie wonders if Olivia's behind the calls. She doesn't think that Olivia would be so cruel to her own daughter, but realizes that Olivia would do anything to torture her.

 Rosario Jewels

Ricardo arrives with a warrant to search her room for the rubies and catches Francesca in the buff. She covers her nudity with a towel, telling him that her coverage is metaphorical -- she has nothing to hide. After they leave, the police admit that they don't have any evidence that Francesca took the rubies at all. Cole arrives and comforts Francesca after her run-in with the police. After Cole leaves to look for the emerald, AJ vows to do whatever is necessary to get Francesca out of Cole's life. Amy decides that she has to undo Emily's blindness. She tries to get Brad to steal the emerald back, but he refuses. Emily has an MRI that doesn't show anything abnormal. When Sean and Bette leave her alone so that she can get some rest, Emily vows that she isn't going to be a prisoner of her blindness, so she leaves the hospital by herself.

December 10, 1998

  Maria

Meg and Ben decide to make a party out of decorating their tree. Sara apologizes for accusing Maria of faking her amnesia, but, of course, she doesn't really mean it. She has a fantasy in which Ben is so wrapped up in Maria that Meg turns to Casey, leaving Sara behind. Maria tells Gabi that she wants to look through family photographs to make a Christmas present for Carmen. In the box, she finds a picture of a tree from when she was married to Ben, and decided to make that her next memory. Maria sees Sara watching her rehearse her Christmas tree memory.

Ricardo/Gabi/Antonio

When Ricardo asks Gabi if they would have made love if he hadn't been called away, she says that they probably wouldn't have. She goes on to say that if she knew what was wrong, she'd tell him. He assures her that he wants to make a commitment to her.

 Rosario Jewels

Antonio finds out that Juan Sanchez, the man who stole the Madonna, is on his way to Sunset Beach. Sean barely is able to save Emily from a truck that had been parked in the hospital parking lot and that had, evidently, lost its parking brake and was about to run over her. When she returns to her room, Emily tells Tyus and Bette that she needs to go home. Tyus says that he'll let her leave as long as she will return for tests the next day. Sean offers to cut classes to bring Emily for her tests. The truck driver says that the truck's parking brake was on. When she overhears this, Amy decides that the accident was caused by the emerald.

 Vanessa's Baby

Tyus tells Vanessa that her morning sickness should go away after the first trimester, which reminds him of his conversation with Virginia that Vanessa might be more than three months pregnant. Tyus tells Vanessa that if she needs to talk -- about anything at all -- she should call him. Vanessa tells Meg about the night that she and Tyus took the experimental drug and that, as a result, she thinks that Tyus could be the father of her baby. Meg counsels her not to tell Michael until she's sure that the baby is Tyus'.

December 11, 1998

  Maria

When she notices Sara watching her practice her next memory, Maria accuses her of spying on her. Sara responds that she was there to pick something up for the picnic and said that she hopes that they can learn to get along, for Ben and Meg's sake. Maria finds the ornaments in a box in the closet and plans to have her memory when she sees the star for the top of the tree. The guests arrive for the tree-trimming party. Maria brings the ornaments into the living room, which convinces Ben that Maria's memory is coming back because she was able to find the ornaments. Meg suggests that Maria put the star on the top of the tree. When she takes the star in her hand, she begins her next memory.

 Rosario Jewels

Antonio tells Gabi to stay in the sanctuary or go home while he meets with Juan. After he leaves, an important phone call for Antonio comes in, so she follows him to give him the message. AJ is waiting to have the blood on the handkerchief analyzed when he sees Emily. He just misses seeing the necklace with the emerald when Sean wraps a sweater around Emily's shoulders. AJ shows the report to Francesca, and tells her that not only wasn't the blood human, the lab couldn't even identify the source of the blood. AJ says that he's only seen this once in his travels, and it's pure evil. Antonio arrives at the boat where he is supposed to be meeting Juan, but it looks like no one has been there in a long time. Gabi arrives to give Antonio the message, and they get locked in the hold of the boat.

December 14, 1998

  Maria

Maria claims to remember everything -- the house, the tree, her marriage to Ben. She even says that she remembers going to camp with Casey. Ben tells Meg that he is skeptical because the emotions that Maria shows are wrong. Maria walks in just as Meg asked Ben whether he would have been convinced if Maria had declared that she still loved him. Maria tells them that she is moving out, because she promised that she'd move out once she regained her memory. Meg tries to convince Maria to stay until she's sure that she has all of her memories.

 Rosario Jewels

Gabi gives Antonio the message that she came to deliver that Juan Sanchez has the Madonna with him. In the process of trying to break down the door, Antonio dislocates his shoulder. He talks Gabi through the process of popping his shoulder back into place. Antonio tells Gabi that they might be stuck there all night. AJ and Francesca see someone floating face down in the ocean. Assuming it is Cole, they go to rescue him. Ricardo and Spence see AJ and Francesca running to the beach and intercept them. Spence and AJ pull the body out of the ocean, which turns out not to be Cole. The body has a letter (which, luckily, was in a plastic bag) in its pocket with Antonio's name on it. Spence brings the translation of the letter to Ricardo. It says that Antonio will restore the Madonna and that the Madonna isn't really the Madonna and Antonio would have to unveil her. Both officers are stumped about what this could mean. Casey Michael and Jimmy see a crate wash ashore. When Francesca panics AJ throws her into a cold shower to calm her down. Once she calms down, he tells her that once they've restored the jewels, Cole will go back to his wife and his son, and Francesca will leave town. AJ encourages Francesca to get some rest, so she takes a nap on the couch. Francesca awakes from her nap to find a creepy-looking Cole knocking at the door.

 Vanessa's Baby

Michael tells Vanessa that he wants to get another job so that she can stay home if she wants. He also tells her that he wants to get married as soon as possible.

December 15, 1998

 Rosario Jewels

While Antonio removes the door from its hinges, they discuss the paths their lives have taken. He says that his life makes more sense when he can help people make sense out of their lives. Gabi tells him that she used to want to be a nurse, and asks if she should consider it again. After he finishes removing the door from its hinges, Antonio excuses himself to look for Juan Sanchez, leaving a lonely and bewildered Gabi behind. AJ sees Cole, who looks fine, but it takes Francesca a while to see that he hasn't turned into a mummy. Cole tells the others that if they don't return the jewels by midnight on Christmas Eve, everyone who has touched the jewels will die. Amy decides that she has to lift the curse because she'll never have Sean as long as Emily can get his sympathy through her blindness. When Olivia overhears Amy and Brad chanting, they try to convince her that they were doing yoga. When she sees the Curses and Legends book, Amy says that she bought it because ever since the TV show Charmed has come out, Brad has had a crush on Shannen Doherty, and he wanted to cast a spell on her to make her fall in love with him. When Emily and Bette go upstairs so that Emily could take a bath, Amy decides to steal the necklace back and hope that that will give Emily her sight back. Amy successfully gets the necklace away from Emily, but she drops it and Sean sees it on the floor. When Emily and Bette come downstairs, Emily is surprised that the necklace is on the floor. Michael promises that Jimmy can have whatever's in the box if the owner doesn't turn up to claim it. They notice that a rose insignia is on the crate and we see that it looks just like the one on the letter that was found on Juan's body. When they recap the events of the past few weeks, Ricardo and the cop realize that everything leads back to Rosario. No one claims the crate. Ricardo shows the letter to Antonio, who realizes that the body was Juan Sanchez.

Baby Switch Blackmail

Annie brings down the briefcase with the proceeds of her sale of the Faberge egg in it. Gregory picks it up, and it opens, spilling the money onto the floor. Annie and Caitlin tell him that the money in the suitcase is her inheritance from her Uncle Roy. Gregory locks the money in his safe, saying that it will be secure there until she decides how she wants to invest it. At the Club, Caitlin gets another phone call. This time it is obvious that the caller can see her. When Olivia, who is having dinner with AJ, excuses herself to make a phone call, Annie follows her to accuse her of making the phone calls. Olivia says that if she wanted to torture Annie, she wouldn't hide behind a phony voice to do it. Annie and Caitlin tell Gregory and Cole that the phone call was Rose calling to say that Trey was having a hard time sleeping. When AJ excuses himself to see a visitor, Olivia ducks into the ladies' room. Cole gets there just before her and corners her to tell her that there's a good chance that they'll never see another Christmas.

December 16, 1998

Baby Switch Blackmail

When they realize that Gregory changed the combination to the safe, Annie asks him for her money. He asks why she needs it, so she replies that the money is for Gregory's Christmas present. He is, apparently, so touched by this that he gives Annie the combination to the safe. Annie speculates that it was too easy to get the combination out of him. Caitlin tells Olivia about the blackmail, and Olivia offers to get the money for her.

 Rosario Jewels

Amy convinces Emily that the necklace must have fallen off before she went upstairs and that she only thought that she'd put it on her dresser. Bette offers to give Emily a better chain for the pendant. AJ finds Cole and Olivia, and Olivia is surprised when she finds out that AJ is also involved with the jewels. Antonio convinces Ricardo that AJ and Francesca's presence on the beach when Juan's body showed up was a coincidence. Antonio doesn't understand the meaning of the letter, recognize a picture of Juan, or recognize the rose that's on the letter. The lab report comes back saying that Juan was killed by scorpion venom. When Cole, Francesca and AJ tell her that everyone who touched the jewels will die by Christmas, Olivia remembers picking up the necklace when AJ offered it to her. Olivia also remembers hearing Amy find the emerald, although she couldn't see what Amy found. Olivia tells the others that she has overheard Amy chanting. Antonio tells the others that the body they found was Juan. When Antonio says that no one's in any immediate danger, Cole breaks the news to him that everyone who has touched the jewels will die before midnight on Christmas.

  Maria

While talking to Dr. Estrada about Maria's new memories, Ben asks Maria to tell him what emotions she felt upon remembering a Christmas from when they were married. Meg comes to Maria's rescue by suggesting that Maria must be so overwhelmed by the memories that she doesn't have time to express the emotions involved. With the help of the videotape she lifted from Carmen's, Maria tells Ben that she remembered when he gave her the house. Then she recites -- her wedding vows? When Ben concedes that Maria seemed to express genuine emotion during the recitation of her wedding vows, Maria asks if Dr. Estrada thinks that she's competent. Dr. Estrada, reluctantly, admits that Maria is competent. Maria tells Ben and Meg that Ben can have his divorce now.

December 17, 1998

  Maria

Sara tells Tim that Maria is planning to file for a divorce, and that since Ben and Meg are going on with their lives, she wants to go on with hers as well. Meg overhears Ben telling Maria that she was too detached for him to believe that she really regained her memory.

 Rosario Jewels

The crate contains some kind of strange sheet-metal statue. It's obvious that the metal contains something else, but Jimmy isn't able to open it himself. He almost shows the "statue" to Antonio, but then realizes that he is running late for basketball practice. Francesca tells Caitlin that after she leaves town, if she finds out that Caitlin has done anything to make Cole unhappy, Francesca will come back to steal Cole from her.

December 18, 1998

 Rosario Jewels

Cole tells Bette that he needs to see Amy about the emerald, and she responds that she gave the emerald to Emily, and that Emily has gone blind. Amy shows Brad the fake emerald she had made, telling him that if she gets the emerald back, she might not have Sean, but at least she would be able to sleep at night. Telling her that she was only switching the chains, Amy convinces Emily to let her switch the necklaces. Sean gives Emily a bottle of the perfume she borrowed from Francesca during the cruise, and that was too expensive for her to buy for herself. He says that he remembered that she had told him that she felt beautiful wearing it, and that he bought the perfume to show her that she's beautiful even if she can't see her reflection in the mirror. Cole asks Emily for her necklace. When he looks at it, he sees that it isn't the real emerald. Amy starts throwing the jewel into the ocean, but Brad stops her and tries to convince her to sell the emerald, rather than throwing it into the ocean. Antonio shows the letter to AJ and Francesca, who are as baffled as he is. After they leave, Jimmy returns home, telling Antonio that he wants to show him his "early Christmas present." Jimmy takes it out and shows Antonio that he thinks that it could open up.

Baby Switch Blackmail

Annie gets another threatening phone call. The caller tells her that he was the person who was listening to them when she and Olivia were at the power plant. He tells her to bring Caitlin and meet him there in an hour. Gregory comes on to Annie, but she reluctantly escaped his grasp to meet with the caller, saying that she was running late to meet Caitlin at the mall. Just as Annie is about to get away, Caitlin returns home. Excusing themselves to go shop for Christmas presents, Annie and Caitlin leave. Annie and Caitlin arrive for their rendezvous with the caller, and Annie shows Caitlin that she has a gun.

  Maria

When Ben corners Maria, she admits to lying about getting her memory back, but says that he won't like to hear what what she does remember. Maria tells Ben that the only thing that she could remember about their life together was that she wasn't in love with him. She says that remembering that she felt that she made a mistake by marrying Ben was the worst feeling of her life, and that she never had a chance to fix things. She says that she was never in love with Ben, because she sees that Ben and Meg have real love. He tells her to go ahead and leave. Maria goes upstairs to pack. She wonders why it hurt so much to hurt him if she didn't ever love Ben. About to leave, Maria tells Meg and Ben that she'd be in touch with them about the divorce and that she wouldn't let it drag on any longer than it has to. Ben tells Maria to empty her suitcase.

December 21, 1998

Baby Switch Blackmail

Annie and Caitlin are tormented by repetitive laughter that turns out to be coming from tape recorders hidden all over the power plant. Annie realizes that the caller was just playing with their minds. When Caitlin begs for mercy, the caller gives them more time to get the money together. Annie and Caitlin resolve to get the money as soon as they could and they leave. We see the face of their tormentor. It's Gregory.

 Rosario Jewels

Cole doesn't believe that Amy threw the emerald into the water. When he finally convinces Amy to give him the box, the emerald is missing. Amy realizes that Brad probably pawned the emerald. They leave to go to Brad's favorite pawn shop. Jimmy tells Virginia how they found the statue inside a crate. They see the scorpion come out of the statue's mouth. Virginia kills the scorpion and then, fearing that it might have more scorpions inside, takes the statue away. Jimmy tells Antonio about the scorpion and how he found the statue in a crate with a rose on it. Antonio realizes that Jimmy's statue is the Madonna and that they don't have a second to lose. Virginia tells them that she took the statue to the scrapyard. Emily and Sean tells Bette that Amy switched the emeralds. Bette says that the emerald may have something to do with Emily's blindness. Emily starts to go deaf. By the time Tyus arrives to examine her, Emily's hearing has come back, but she starts to age. Cole and Amy catch up to Brad, who is covered in leeches, at the pawn shop.

  Maria

While looking through Maria's suitcase, Ben finds the videotape and the file she got from Pete. Maria admits that she was lying, and Meg lets her have it for what she put Ben through. Meg calls Dr. Estrada to tell her that Maria hasn't gotten her memory back. Ben tries to explain to Maria that she still isn't acting like her old self. However, he also tells her that putting others before herself is how the Maria that he remembers would behave. Ben catches Meg watching the tape of Ben giving the house to Maria. She apologizes for watching it, and he says that she shouldn't be watching it, not because of his memories with Maria, but because it is upsetting to her.

December 22, 1998

Baby Switch Blackmail

Gregory says that his phone calls are payback to Annie for keeping his son from him. When Annie tells Caitlin that she would have shot the blackmailer, Gregory, who is eavesdropping, asks her to elaborate. They tell him that they were talking about a video game they saw at the mall. Olivia arrives with the money, telling Gregory that it's a Christmas present for Trey. Gregory says that whatever the women have planned, he is sure he is going to enjoy it. Annie and Caitlin take the money upstairs, and Gregory tells Olivia how happy he is that she is going to be spending Christmas with the family. After Olivia leaves, Gregory vows to make Olivia pay for keeping Trey from him. Thoroughly enjoying laying it on thick, Gregory tells Annie how Sean always wanted a baby brother for Christmas.

 Rosario Jewels

When Francesca's hair starts to fall out, she says that losing her hair was how Hillary's death began. AJ reminds her that prayer saved them in the church. AJ's hand starts to age. Brad passes out and the leeches disappear. Cole decides that they must have been a mass hallucination caused by the jewels. When Cole picks up the emerald, it burns his hand, but when he denies that it is real, it stops. Brad and Amy arrive, and Brad tells the others that the emerald is cursed, and that Amy knew it. She says that she didn't intend for Emily to go blind, all she wanted was to break Sean and Emily up. She says that she wants to undo the damage she's done. Amy starts to age. The man at the scrapyard tells Antonio that the statue has already been destroyed. When AJ, Francesca and Cole are leaving for the church, they open the door, and find Hillary standing there, blocking the way out. Cole tells the others that everything that has happened -- Hillary, Francesca's hair loss, AJ's hand -- are hallucinations. They decide to climb down from the balcony, but Bernie is blocking the window. They push Bernie out the window, and Cole goes through the door, past Hillary, who grabs his hand and starts to chant. Antonio prays for forgiveness and the chance to make things right, asking for a sign. When he finishes his prayer, Gabi is standing next to him telling him that she is there to help. He castigates himself for not being perfect, and she tells him not to give up hope. She says that the jewels need to be returned to the Madonna by midnight. When he says that he couldn't, because the Madonna was destroyed, she says that he'll understand. Gabi comes in to speak to Antonio, and he realizes that there are two Gabis in the room.

December 23, 1998

  Maria

Meg arrives at her parents' house, and finds her entire family, and Casey, sharing a champagne toast to Maria regaining her memory. She tells them that Maria was pretending that she remembered so that she could give Ben and Meg the divorce that they want. Casey and Meg have a tender moment when he gives her a book on Venice for Christmas. A jealous Sara gets rid of Casey and asks Meg if there is anything else wrong, so Meg confesses that she is afraid that she is going to lose Ben to Maria. She says that she is starting to believe everyone else when they say that what Ben and Maria felt for each other was the real thing. Sara asks Meg why she left Ben and Maria alone together, and Meg responds that Ben needs to make a choice between the two women. Sara has another fantasy in which Ben and Maria and Sara and Casey end up together. This time, Melinda arrives at the end to torment Sara. Ben tells Maria about what Christmas was like when they were married. He then gives her a present that he'd purchased for her the year she disappeared and never had the chance to give to her -- an ornament with the swing on the beach painted on it. Maria panics because she isn't feeling anything. She drops the ornament and it breaks. In an effort to restrain her from picking up the shards, Ben grabs her hand. After an uncomfortable silence, Ben leaves for the Cummings house. While sweeping up the glass shards, Maria remembers Ben touching her hand.

 Rosario Jewels

The other Gabi tells Antonio that the Madonna isn't lost, and that he should trust in himself to find her and then she disappears. Gabi begs Antonio to tell her what is going on. Antonio leaves for the scrapyard, and Gabi follows him. Hillary and Bernie hold Cole between them, demanding the emerald, but when Cole escapes their grasp and insists that they aren't real, they disappear. Everyone at the scrapyard insists that there wasn't anything inside the metal statue. One of the workers gives Antonio his Christmas bonus for the mission and then leaves. Gabi, who was standing outside, sees the worker take the Madonna out of his duffel bag and say that it has to help, because nothing else has. Gabi demands that he give the Madonna back. In the effort to get away from her, the worker knocks her over, rendering her unconscious. The foreman lets Antonio look around for the Madonna. Antonio finds Gabi unconscious on the floor. She does, however, work up the courage to tell Cole that she's not pregnant. Gregory had been holding Dr. Brock hostage. He tells Dr. Brock that he knows that his baby's alive, and that he helped Annie steal him. Gregory says that he won't press charges if Dr. Brock will tell him how much Olivia knew about the plot. Maria

Casey tells Meg that he'd never seen any indication that Ben wants anything other than to be with Meg and that if she keeps getting upset, it might turn out that her fears are a self-fulfilling prophecy. Meg agrees that he is right and goes upstairs. When Casey is about to leave, Sara arrives. She tells him what she thinks she saw in the cave Ben and Maria kissing. He leaves, cautioning Sara to not tell Meg anything of what she thought she saw, because it would make Meg leave Ben, not fight for him. Sara intends to just apologize for hurting Meg, but after she finishes her apology, Meg says that she needs Sara because she always is honest with her. So, Sara tells her what she thinks she saw in the cave. Meg accuses Sara of being jealous of her, and orders her out of the house. Ben asks Maria if she remembers anything else, and she says that she remembers how she felt that night. Ben asks her what she felt, and she says that she was confused and hurt. He blames himself, and she says that she what she remembers is still all scrambled up, and that she doesn't blame him for what happened. Maria marvels at how her memories came back in the cave after going so many places that should have been familiar to her. When Ben says that she should stay there as long as she needed to, she remembers Carmen telling her that she was going to remember how much she loved Ben, so she says that she wants to leave -- now. When she tells Ben that she doesn't want to push things, he agrees to take her home. Upon their arrival home, Ben convinced Maria to call Dr. Estrada. She decides that if she remembers loving Ben, that she'd just have to lose him all over again. She tells Meg that she got a memory back, and Meg accuses her of trying to get Ben back. They argue to the top of the stairs, and Maria falls down them.

 Ricardo/Gabi/Antonio

Ricardo asks Gabi if this will be a new beginning for them, or if this means that it is over. He goes on to say that he's never loved anyone the way he loves her. He says that he doesn't want to make love unless she is sure that it is right. Gabi and Ricardo make love. Antonio tries to convince his mother to give up on the idea that someone else is in love with Gabi to no avail. She asks him to choose a card, and he chooses The Devil. She tells him that it stood for Gabi -- the temptress. Turning over the other cards, Carmen says that the man is well-respected, has followers, and that both Gabi and Ricardo know him. Ricardo has no idea that the other man feels that way, and that he has obligations that make his feelings inappropriate. Antonio stops her from turning over the last card, telling her that he could promise that Ricardo won't be hurt. Carmen says that she wouldn't believe it from anyone else, but that she believes him. When she is called out of the room, Antonio turns over the last card. It's The Priest. Antonio calls his bishop and requests to be transferred to another diocese.
